The first page and some other panels, especially with Cap in them, seem very Barry Windsor-Smith like.  They remind me of his inking on Kirby in the Bicentennial Battles Treasury Edition.

JB, was there a particular reason why you waited a few issues later then the ads promised to get the Human Torch back in the story?

***

I didn't wait. The ads were wrong.

Not me... I remember grabbing that one with eager anticipation at the contents.

I really like covers like this one that give you different "slices" of what's going on behind them.

Does anyone know why Kurt Busiek chose to disregard the WCA discovery that the  Vision and the original Human Torch were two totally separate entities?

As much as these are really great stories the colouring really turns me off. I
wonder, does Bob Sharen really see everything that's not three feet in front
of him in shades of pink and lavender?

Seeing that one panel of Hank Pym holding little Tigra makes me think of those Animal Cop shows where the rescuers pull out 37 feral cats from some deranged old persons home.  But thats just me.

=======

I don't think Busiek disregarded it.  The "problem" is that the Englehart version of the Vision/Human Torch relationship and the Byrne version of that relationship were inconsistent with each other.  Busiek -- in Avengers Forever -- tried to come up with a way that both versions could be true without contradiction.  How successful he was is open to interpretation, but I thought it did a nice job of respecting both the fans of the original Englehart story and fans of the subsequent Byrne story.

If you search for "Busiek vision human torch" on groups.google.com, you'll see some posts by Busiek himself that give some insight into this issue.

Page 16 of this issue is on eBay! I thought that was a neat coincidence.

Here is page 16!
