Now _this_ is a recreation I could get behind! I was never too keen on the idea of tracing the originals, and while I very much enjoyed the re-interpretations, there was a case or two where I preferred the layout of the original. This is a happy medium!

It's in both cases, a cool tribute to the Neal Adams cover, where a character interacted with the logo for the first time in comic book history. :-)

I keep scrolling up and down trying to determine which facial expression captures the evil best!

She's hotter in the original, crazier looking in the new version.

A fierce cover - I like Phoenix's facial epxression better in the more recent rendering. I always thought this was a very intense, effective layout.

Interesting to see the differences in inking. Both are gorgeous and super clean, of course. Terry Austin's inks are very mechanical looking. I understand he uses nibs- man, his hands must be hurting after all these years, because his lines are so crisp...

JB's attention to details(composition, anatomy, light, placement of blacks) always make you want to stop and take a few moments to absorb it. Your eyes move around the whole page. His inks are just as powerful as Terry's though much more organic. It looks just natural and perfect.

I wonder if Terry have ever used PITT pens, and what they would look like over JB pencils now? I know his inking is different now than it was then, but if the tools used would make any difference? I wonder if his inking would look similiar to JB inks if the same tools were used?
