I love this stuff !!

A true classic -- and truly nostalgiac. I can't begin to express what it meant
for a Canadian boy such as myself to think that "we" had our very own
super-hero team (in the words of Bob and Doug McKenzie: "Beauthy, eh !!")

Now for some criticism: some of the shots here would look better if they had
backgrounds (especially that last page in James and Heather's house -- can
you imagine how that would look in black and white?).

(There!~ I said it!!).

The second comic book that I ever bought, and my first JB!
My first comic was X-Men#171, which I bought a month earlier. I was fooled by the "Exploding from the pages of the X-Men!" blurb - thought the X-Men would have been in it for more than a flashback, and I was kinda peeved that it was barely X-Men-related. But, apparently there was something I liked that I found myself buying the rest of the run.....

Despite the number of times I've read this entire series, I only just realized that the embrace between Mac and Heather I posted above was the only point we see them together in "real time" (not a memory, flashback or in the origin tales) until Heather opens the door at the end of issue 12.

"...ooooooh this is gonna hurt..."

Take it with the affection and nostalgia that it's generated from, JB. For
most of us the larger part of our love for this series is more of time and
place than of what you may feel wasn't your best efforts.

And they truly are better than you seem to think they are. Well written
and interesting. Reading them then I never guessed your heart wasn't in
it. That's a compliment on your professionalism more than anything, I
think. You can still manage to do a fine job on something you don't care
that much about.

I wish the same could be said of countless others, across a number of
professions!

Really?!?

I never caught that at all! I'm going to have to re-read this with that in mind.

I didn't read any Alpha Flight until just a few years ago, but I loved it.

I've always wondered why Reed, Sue, Ben, and Franklin are on the cover, but not Johnny.  My guess is that to show Johnny in action you need him aflame, in the air, and that would interfere with the flying Alpha Flight members.  Am I right?

OK, I take that back.  Duh.  The end of the issue with the whole team there, that's the last time.
