I first discovered ALPHA FLIGHT back in the summer of 1990 when I scoured back issue bins for Byrne comics. I found issues 2 - 12 and 14 - 28 in the 50 cent bins, and paid about $3 for issue 1 at a convention. Issue 13, however, was very hard to find and whenever I did come across it, it went for about $15 (yes, almost as much as I'd paid for all the other issues combined). This was because of the "Wolverine" appearance (1990 was probably the peak of Wolverine-mania). I finally got the issue for less than $10 about a year later -- only to discover that the price had been jacked-up for a non-speaking appearance in a dream.
Ahh, the speculator era!

I just want to say that THAT is Logan, He's supposed to a small man, at the time of publication, I had always thought of him as kind of being one of those guys with "little man syndrome". They are always pissed of at the world and spoiling for a fight, to prove they can take on anything.
wait that's not real clear. I didn't think he had "little man syndrome" just that he was kind of that size.
As seen on the cover he not only short, but also small in build. I never thought he should look like a short but beefed up body builder.

portion of the dream sequence actually happen as shown, or was that all
strictly Heather's imagination?

I'd always thought as much. Until "Mac" pops out of the grave, everything we see is consistent with how it would likely have happened in the characters' real world (except, perhaps, for Wolverine's appearance, since he doesn't drop by to visit Heather until a few issues later).

---- but we all know now that Mac teleported away to Jupiter....oh, wait, that was a ruse story used by a villain...no, wait, it was later retconned in as what really happened....right ? I forget. All I know is that JoeQ killed AF inbetween panels in the Avengers -- nice Joe, real nice...

No, AF ended with issue 28. They are still alive and waiting to take on the Hulk.
