JB,

Awesome piece!  Thank you.  As for your question about the lettering... I think you do a superb job.  I wouldn't mind a shade if you kept right on doing what you're doing.

However, I confess to wondering what such an experiment in that direction might look like.  I have a sneaking suspicion that it would look extremely sharp and striking!

Paul - did you specifically ask for the old costumes in the corner box?

I shouldn't really vote since I haven't bought one ... (YET!) - but I like the idea of you scanning the copy - it's like the customer is really getting a whole art package that includes design and desktop publishing, etc  - it's a whole fancy package.

Having said that - for my money, I'd like the hand-lettering.  I've always enjoyed your lettering (I remember the first time I noticed it when you did it that one time on FF!) and I think it's looked great on commissions!

I have no problem with your hand lettering JB. It reminds us (not that we need it) that you are a proper artist not just a tracing hack like so many out there.

Here's a small experiment I tried last night, cleaning up a scanned logo.
Only did the "easy" stuff, to save time, but it gives an idea. . .

(Obviously, this is at lower resolution than what would be used on the art!)

I let JB choose if he wanted to do the old or new costumes in the corner box. I liked the idea of either. After seeing it I think having both versions fits perfectly with what I wanted to accomplish with this cover homage.

John, as an owner of 3 (wait, no, four) cover re-imaging with text and logo, i must say that i prefer the hand drawing, even if it's not perfect. It gives this "hand made" look. At least, i would keep asking it to be done that way.

If you're in mood of experimenting things for commissions, i would rather love to see some bi-color stuff (white + ligth grey for example), or even a single non white color (ligth green for a She-Hulk, ...).
The kind of stuff that you do by posting png on the forum.
