That too. Namor's head is often portrayed as an inverted triangle, and this particular rendition is a little less exaggerated than I'm typically used to seeing.
As others have noted, JB really captures Namor's regality in this piece.

I really like this one a lot - more and more I am seeing how important facial
expressions are in comic book storytelling. Pride, arrogance and strength all
coming out of just one look from Namor. Great piece, JB.

Every line is pure 'BYRNE'.
A perfect example of how to draw freely.
Thanks for sharing!

What did you draw this with? It has an almost drybrush quality to it.

It looks simple simple, but it must be very hard to do. Every thing must be in the art of inking it. And the inking is great.
I like the fact that we can see the not-so-perfect black inking...
It is a great portrait, John...

I don't think I ever placed it before, but now it seems just so obvious. Namor's lack of pronounced skull eye brow makes him appear very Asian. I am guessing that he is supposed to be very similar to Cantonese Chinese. Or is it more Northern, such as Korean?
The hair brings it all together.
Now that I think about it, Burgos made him look like that too.
Wow. Funny how realizations just come to you.

This is great!
Pretty simple, yet very effective. Much prefer this non-triangular headed version a la the wonderful John Byrne Namor series, as opposed to earlier versions.
John's art in Namor was such a joy, it's nice to have a little reminder. After 20-odd issues, it still felt like there was so many more tales you could have told with him (I'm not counting the Jae Lee ones...)

Can't say how much intent there was, since I didn't ask! But as a kid I got a
"Chinese" sense from how Jack drew Namor, and whenever I have drawn the
character, I have tried to play to that.
