Wow ... great to see a recreation of this artwork.  I vividly remember seeing this on the newstand.  I was stationed in Germany at the time and had absolutely no idea it was coming out.  (Before the internet, y'know).  I was absolutely floored - and thrilled at the look back at one of my favorite comics.

JB, I've always wondered.  The Phoenix logo - was that custom designed for this issue or was it used before on a comic.  Or since???

Thanks!!

Great piece, JB.  The resemblance is uncanny ;-)

Wow. You totally pulled off Terry's lines. Amazing. Have you ever thought anything about trying to replicate his style on something other than a replication?

Man this is too cool!  "Great job on using the whole page."

I had an art teacher that would say that all the time and I for some reason loved it, so I am passing Mr Trapp's high praise on to you! :0)

Hey -- now that you mention it, I have no idea! Anyone?

That "Untold" cover is a favorite - what a great commission idea.

That sketchbook version is stunning. It really captures the tragedy that I felt reading that story the first time. It still has a big impact on me to this day.

I'm pretty certain that was the first time that logo was used.

Edited to add: And it has been used on a number of comics and related items since then.

CHA CHING!

This one's all mine boys and girls and I'm salivating over it. Fantastic job John. Been in love with this cover since I first laid eyes on it. The original eluded me but I'll be happy to give this one a permanent home. Thanks very much.

Eric
