Also in comics, there are some stereotypes and artists tend to stick to those "rules" Women (specially super-heroines) usually have small noses, big lips, big eyes, thin eye brows,...

I honestly never heard anyone complain that your faces looked the same

-----------------------------------------

I remember a letter being published in the FF complaining that Frankie Raye looked just like Jean Grey, along with a reply saying something like 'John acknowledges his women in particular look similar and is working on this.' I can remember thinking how dare the editor have a dig at JB's pencils! I now realise that the letters were never answered by the editors, and this was an example of JB's customary self-criticism and drive to improve.

Which he has done -- by the early 90s there was a much greater variety to his faces. Phoebe Marrs springs to mind as having a very distinctive face -- as did nearly all the characters in the Namor series.

If you look at the nose, mouth and jaw of Prof X, Cyclops and Mimic in the Alan Davis  drawings above, you'll notice that they are actually incredibly similar.

Continuing with the Namor series, JB had far more variety  if you compared Namor to Desmond Marrs to Caleb Alexander. Who then in turn, all look different to the Byrne versions of Superman, Jimmie Olsen, Perry White, etc.

I can remember back in high school my little comic group complaining that both JB and George Perez had limited facial drawings that they used.  Their complaint with JB was female faces.  With George it was both male and female.  I never cared.  They were two of my favorites and I bought all their work I could.  Fast forward a quarter century and things have changed.  And remained the same.  Both artists have grown immensely in their chosen profession.  Not just in stature mind you but actual skill level.  For example, I loved JB's Marvel Team-up work.  It has a special place in my heart much as my first girlfriend does, but it doesn't compare to the work JB (does today much as that 1st girl doesn't hold a candle to my wife.

GREAT COMMISSION JB !!

George's devotion to his craft is a constant inspiration. He's one of those guys who was transformed into a SuperStar early, probably before he really deserved it (as was I), but unlike so many who would have sat back and basked in the glow, resting on their laurels, he continued to push himself. His range of faces and facial expressions today is truly amazing.
