Great piece! Definitely agree with everyone about Bucky's face. Although I have to say, as a fan of Frankenstein and lab gadgets, that piece in the bottom left hand corner is really beautiful.

JB is the master of lab gizmos!  Perez and Alan Davis are pretty good, too, but JB is the Gadget Man!

The Frankenstein Monster of the Marvel U!  Cool!  One wonders what old Victor was doing all those years that Hitler was running things up in Berlin...

Being dead, mostly! Even if he had not died at the end of the novel, that book was first published in 1818, and told the tale of things that had happened before that date! So ol' Victor was pushing up the daisies years before Adolf was even born!

Slightly OT, JB:  I've read that some consider "Frankenstein" to be the world's first science fiction novel.  Would you agree with that?

Really handsome, and instantly one of my favorites.  As in awe as I am over your ability to do the "cast of thousands" megacommissions, my favorites generally involve 3 to five figures.

What I really like about this particular piece is the lab machinery.  It looks high-tech, but also like it belongs in the time period it's set in, if that makes any sense.

I suppose it depends on how narrowly we define the word "novel". Cyrano de Bergerac (yes, he was real) wrote of his journey's to the Moon and Sun in the 1600s. Since he got there by means of a mechanism/flying machine he built, I think these would qualify as "science fiction".

Wonderful piece! I love just about any story that has the Frankenstein Monster!

In this piece, what's the backstory? Is this the original creature that Der Skull found and dupped into helping the Nazis? Or is this a new creature that was whipped up by Nazi scientists (such as in the INVADERS story)?

I dont think this is an "official" Marvel site, but it does show a fun history of the Monster & the Frankenstein family in the Marvel Universe!

Bill, that's not an official site, but they guy who runs it got tapped by Marvel to do their updated Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe series.

I've been checking that site for info on obscure characters for years now.  Not the greatest site layout, but those guys do a lot of research.
