Grant Morrison gave an interview to "Rolling Stone" magazine on the DC re-launch and the "death" of comics: The interview. Any thoughts on this?

I never got the appeal. The few things I've read from the guy were so sporadic, confusing and half-baked that I could never understand what the hell was going on.
The only issues of New X-Men I bought were those last few in that future storyline because the Silvestri art looked awesome. I tried reading them and SERiously did not know a SINGLE THING that was going on. It was like reading some hippie's poetry after doing acid.

If it's confusing, it must be good!

Even just being on a message board or two over the past decade I've noticed that even the people who praise his work are often like "This was AMAZING! Now I have 75 questions....".

Well, I like Grant Morrison. Love most of his work, but will admit that there have been a few instances where I was reading one of his books and just didn't get it(Invisibles, The Filth). When he's good, though, he's really good(We3, All Star Superman, New X-Men).
The only thing I really don't like about Grant Morrison is that he doesn't seem to really care who draws his stories. So sometimes it's a hard read, imo, more because of the art than the writing.

Another reason for the sales decline is because of the failing economy. I still believe the whole re-launch gimmick is JIM LEE's idea, he's done this his entire career. I doubt he'll take the credit or the blame when this relaunch goes rock bottom.

On that page Kevin linked to is a graph chart that shows the sales of "The Fantastic Four" from 1965 to 2005. It's interesting to note that the third issue of volume three was the best-selling issue, but that is due to it being a special promotional issue which carried a price of only nine cents. Most of the issues that spiked are noted on the chart, but the spike from 1991-92 is most likely the three-part issues with the "new" Fantastic Four team of Ghost Rider, Punisher, the Hulk, and Wolverine, which was drawn by Art Adams. 
Looking at that chart, it is also interesting to note that the sales during most of the Joe Quesada reign was less than that during the collapse in sales after the early 90's speculator boom, yet he is credited with being a success as editor-in-chief.
