Since someone shot a couple holes in our front window with a BB gun, we'll have some 'construction' around the Myers house soon...

I'm having windows and conservatory put in / on. The windows went in without a hitch. The conservatory build went well and since then, the project has gone to pot with me pretty much having to project manage above the company - why would an experienced company think you plaster a wall before you put the internal plumbing in to the wall?

And you have to draw ads with minimalistic people in the pool.

I came home from Shanghai last night to a large noise in my apartment. Thinking I had left the TV on or something, I opened the door to find water spraying all over my bathroom. A pipe had burst, causing a river of water to run through my place. I turned the water off and called the landlord. Right this minute, there are two guys in my bathroom putting in new pipes and fixing my sink, which had also been leaking.
A nice thing about China is that I can get someone over here on a Sunday immediately and the total price for two new pipes and an entire sink insert is about $15. They don't charge for labour over here. I think it is built into the price for the parts.

Wow, the 8ft ladder really adds scale. Normally I couldn't see a project this size taking three months, but you do live in L.A.

Congrats on the Greno Grotto!
The building I work in was built in 1929, so there have been various large scale construction projects just to keep the building current. The biggest was a renovation of the other half of our hallway - months of noise and dust. It's the nature of the work. But the result is so transformative that it's worth it in the end.

There's a big rock waterfall you can sit behind... they haven't even started that yet! It's going to look like Disneyland back there...

That looks like it will be one momma of a hot tub! Oooh, the envy.
I bought a second house recently and my girlfriend and I were looking at building an extension, but the prices we were being quoted were just crazy. We had the plans all drawn up thinking we knew roughly how much it would cost, but then some of the quotes were coming in twice as high as they should have been.... so we're rethinking the project and may just have to renovate within the floorspace available.

Congrats on the new house Brad. Today's my family's first full day in our new house. The last month has been project after project. We completely redid the kitchen and pulled up all the carpets (which were installed in 1981). It's been a dizzying month or so.

Thanks for the well wishes!
I have sympathy for you guys doing home improvements. The end result is always great, but me and my OCD can't stand living in unfinished spaces.
Congrats on the completion, Adam.
Looking forward to pics of the finished product, Nathan (filled with the Hollywood ladies, I would hope?!?)
