One thing I don't think I've seen before are the leather straps inside Thor's helmet. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention.

••

I don't think they have ever been seen in the comics, but they have appeared in one previous commission.

Part of the fun of having Matt here on his 13th birthday was being reminded of my own, lo these many years ago. My parents took me out to dinner, and on the way I picked up, off the stands, a copy of this:

(I wasn't quite able to impress upon Matt just how much 25¢ was in those day!!)

A few decades later, I would add a page of original art from that issue to my collection:

Funny thing was the comparison of my 13 year old self with Matt. Courtesy of his genetic heritage, Matt is totally savvy when it comes to original comicbook art, whereas at his age, if someone had told me I would some day own a page from that comic, I would not have had a clue what they were talking about. "But I already own ALL the pages. . . !"

Another great piece hits us like a ton of bricks.

Love the look of Juggernauts face as slams Thor with his palm.

Also, I take it's Barzon Zemo II that has been used. Is this the first time JB has drawn him?

As far as I can recall. I know I have done the original Zemo a few times, but this is, I think, a first for Junior.

One of my favorite commissions ever. Great job, JB, you are in top form on this one.

Also, my sons and I have spotted 7 Barneys so far. They love that those are in there!

Should I start a separate thread with the "cheat sheet" for locating Barneys? Something with a warning in the title so people who want to find 'em on their own can avoid it?

Gorgeous piece! Love the Spider-Man especially! (I've found 11 Barneys...I
think.)

The Spider-Man figure is most impressive!

Happy bday Matt!

A separate thread could be a fun idea. First person to find them all wins a pony!
