I wonder if a daytime scenario for this commission would've looked any different (besides the amount of ink used)?•• Since I didn't want to overload the foreground figures with "accurate" night lighting and shadows, I suppose the biggest difference would be in the background. Very quick and dirty, it might have looked a little bit -- but only a little bit! -- like this:

Wow, nice. Heh now more people in Gotham get to see the action.I thought that maybe a horizontal format would maybe have been dirived from a daytime scene. Or is that something you only choose to do upon requests?

Or is that something you only choose to do upon requests?•• I do the layout that I think best suits the image. If the customer asks for rootops, as here, but gives me a choice of portrait or landscape, I will more often go for portrait, so as to emphasize the vertigo effect.

Ahh thank you for the insight. Something to consider "down the road".

…Escher…•• Now this, I can't see. There's no trickery, no optical illusions to the backgrounds here. Just a stand perspective grid, three point.

This commission has nearly put me at the point where I want to jump back on the commission list ahead of the schedule I intended. (Which happened last year due to the giant X-Men commission that made me jump in) Only problem is I can't decide which idea I want to go for. So many things I want to see JB draw, only so much money to spend. Either way, I really love this piece.

As for the Escher comment.... I'm guessing that from afar this would create an Eschery effect.
