Remember, the Right to Bear Arms overwrites the rights of any people, including children, to live their lives in full.

Just ask any chickenshit congressman or sentator.

I'm looking forward to more "Guns don't kill people" arguments. Maybe, but they sure make it easier to kill lots of people all at once.

I just read that "more than 12 killed, including children".

I'm hearing 27 including 14 children. If this doesn't change anything then I don't think anything will.

BBC is reporting 27 dead. Tragic, bewildering, horrible.

Nothing will change. There are too many guns in private hands, and too many cowards in Washington and state legislatures.

There was a similar attack in China recently.  The attacker didn't have a gun; he used a knife.  No one was killed.

Of course the lesson the gun-nuts always learn from these incidents is that we need more guns.

The only thing that will change is that there will be a spike in gun sales.

Can't believe I can see some on twitter still defending gun ownership right now. At the moment when we aren't sure how many CHILDREN have been killed whilst at school.

Mental health screenings continue to fail. Mostly because I doubt they are as rigorous as the psych evals that police officers have to take.

And they should be.

JB is right. America's slow suicide will only continue. Meanwhile, these terrorist attacks (and that's what they are) will persist.

I believe it.... the argument will always be that guns don't kill, the people who use them do. I'm getting so sick of that reasoning.

During Johnson's presidency, protestors against the war in Vietnam would chant "LBJ, LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?"

Let's change "LBJ" to "NRA".

I keep thinking about 18 kids whose biggest concern in life right now was what Santa was going to bring them for Christmas.

Now they have no life.

This could have been avoided if all those kids were allowed to carry guns, right?

You think you're kidding. But right now you can be sure there are those who are making exactly that claim -- or, at least, if the STAFF had been armed.

Not even close to funny, Terry.  Extremely poor timing.

Tragic, so tragic.  Seems we see so many of these shootings today.  What is wrong with society?

But that is an argument I've heard from pro-gun people. And surely when something like this has happened it is completely the right time to be examining why the gun laws are the way they are and trying to find out what can be done to prevent things like this from happening again.

you're right, Kevin. I am sorry if that was offensive. I, in no way, mean to disrespect those that lost their lives today. As JB pointed out, this kind of thinking will rear it's ugly head soon enough only they will be completely serious. That's what sickens me about this. (well, one thing anyway...)
