Erm, the rendering of the buildings in the background is all finished?

Ok!

I was looking at some early George Pérez cityscapes, and they looked very much like Kirby cityscapes, which are awesome, very geometrical and busy.

Do you have favorite artists on this, JB?

I was thinking about what the Chief has described as he (paraphrasing) "sees the image pop into his head and then projects it to the page so he can trace the image". Being able to read that description and visualize this image could very well be considered a super power.

In a large. complex image like this, what "pops into my head" is the principle, foreground figures. I get them on the page, and they define the negative spaces around them into which other elements will fit.

…your new take on the Thing with the muscles more defined…

••

This comment stuck in my mind, and I found myself this morning clicking thru some of the older FF commissions in the Gallery. Seems this "muscle definition" goes back to some of the earliest commission pieces, at least as far as 2006. So it's not really a "new take".

It's not something I do every time, mind you. Usually only when a little extra "weight" is needed to add some OOMPH to the figure.

There's nothing at Marvel I'd want to do. And, let's face it, with their current product, why would they even ask me?
