John Byrne:

 QUOTE:
I feel kinda bad about disrupting Poe's hideaway. Not because I now don't know where he is, again, but because he'd found a place in this strange new "world" that felt safe to him -- and I stripped away that safety.

I wonder if he knows yet that the same Giant who is searching for him, and disrupted his hiding place, is also the person who put out that bowl of food that he keeps visiting.

"My former cat, Earl, used to get around my old house in manners that convinced me he could teleport -- he'd be in the kitchen when I made breakfast for myself, but when I went up to my Studio, then on the third floor, he'd be coming down the stairs as I went up! -- and now I begin to think Poe can do the same. "

They're using the air ducts!  Like Aliens!  Or Bruce Willis.

Well, guess who just took himself on a tour of the Studio!

I was sitting here at the computer, heard a "meow", and looked up to see Poe sitting across the room from me, his back to the bookcases on that wall. He then proceeded to circumnavigate the floor, pausing for a while to watch Gwynn, who is under my drawing board (her usual daytime spot) and seemed oblivious to his presence.

Now he's back on top of the flat files.

Surveying the new kingdom, "This'll do, I supposed."

If Poe keeps "disappearing", is his middle name Kurt by chance?

I keep thinking, 'just be careful that he isn't peeing all over your flat files.'  This is based on experience with our calico during her period of adjustment to the house.

Very glad he made his studio appearance!

I didn't know Gwynn was hanging out in the studio regularly - it's good to hear she is comfortable in the studio during working hours.

After one small accident on the first night (which may have been Gwynn), Poe has been most diligent in the use of the, ah, facilities provided!

Awoke around 5:30 this morning -- close to my usual time -- to hear strange noises in the bedroom. Gwynn, on the bed beside me, had her head up, ears at the alert.

Then I saw a dark shape moving along the back of the settee in front of the windows to my right. Poe! He made his way down the arm closest to the bed, then jumped onto the corner. Gwynn did not react. After a moment, Poe jumped down to the floor, and I heard him circling. Then he appeared at my side of the bed and whimpered. I lowered my hand to his level, and he began walking back and forth, rubbing himself against my fingers.

After a few moments of this, he jumped up on the bed. So there I was, coccooned under the covers, with Gwynn pressed up against my right flank, and Poe now on the left. Gwynn whimpered. Poe stretched over my legs and for a moment they were literally nose to nose.

Then Poe did the feline equivalent of a shrug, and curled up under my hand, against my left side. Gwynn continued with the occasional whimper/whine, but I stroked and scratched both and there was no "incident". (Gwynn's fur is quite coarse, but she feels like a wire brush in a side by side comparison like that!)

I think I can safely declare this to be progress!!

Now that is some progress there.
