High turn out for the vote: over 80%. And the latest polls are pointing to a no vote.

Replacing with the black as above is still incorporating the white saltire of St Andrew's flag.

Not necessarily. The red cross of St. George doesn't have a white border, but one was added to separate it from St. Patrick's cross. With the blue rendered as black, St. Andrew's cross is replaced with a similar white border for St. Patrick.

Not that it looks like it's really going to be an issue.

Thankfully they made the right decision.

Right decision for whom? If you don't live in Scotland, you or I can not
say if the decision was right or wrong. Even though the vote for
independence failed, I hope it will move to give Scotland more power
over their own people and lands. Only time will tell.

I think he can have a say, the outcome would have
affected all of the UK.

After two "No" separation referendums in Quebec I expected a result along the lines of "better the Devil you know ..." and that's what came of it.

For this generation anyways. If London doesn't poney up on its promises then there might be another Scottish referendum in 15-20 years and that one might go in the other direction.

Amazing voter turn out too. My compliments to the people of Scotland.

Quebec has been grumbling about leaving Confederation since John A. MacDonald was PM. They haven't yet, and they most likely never will.

I see Scotland in the same light.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Still, the separatists have been ruining Quebec's economy since 1976 ... to the great benefit of Toronto who has become an admirable world class metropolis and taken Montreal's place as a Canadian powerhouse. Quebec is now so poor that it gets billions in equalization payments ... paid out by the wealthier provinces.

We're lucky Canada doesn't kick us out.

In short, one cannot underestimate the destructive effects of "wanting to build a country". I feared for the Scots in this regard.

The right choice was made. The SNP had no plan and no clue. Just glad Salmond decided to fall on his sword.

All they have done is stirred up hatred and resentment that was put to bed a long time ago.

A fiend suggested that the devolution problem could be solved if the rest of the UK voted to boot England out of the Union. I think he was joking.
