Thank you all for your wishes... We are safe.
One of the thing we can really appreciate is the peaceful way of the protesters. More than 50K people in the streets, and yet not a single car on fire, not a single shop looted. My wife was in one of the demonstration places yesterday night ( Mong Kok in the New Territories ) and apart from being extremely packed with people, it was really peaceful and calm.I am considering to go tonight to help and provide some assistance like food, water and umbrellas.

Dear all,
here is a little recap of the current situation. I went on 2 of the major protestation sites ( Admiralty and Causeway Bay, both on Hong Kong island ) on Wednesday afternoon, then a big part of the night and then Thursday afternoon. What I saw there was incredible... Polite, organized, friendly and non violent students and protesters.
Today afternoon, Causeway Bay, had to surrender.
Another site on the New Territories, Mong Kok, was also in big troubles. But this time, it was a dirty trick. There are strong rumors about triads involvement in the clashes. I have a French friend who was there and he was threatened by some thugs just because he was filming the scene with his phone. He left and went back to Admiralty. But big fights are continuing there as I write those words. There might be some big clashes over night or during the week-end on the principal locations. I have several friends there. I am worried for them, for their safety.
This is a critical moment for Hong Kong.
They need to stand still.

Didier, do you think the government's decision to hold talks with the protesters is a delaying tactic to wait them out or a real sign of progress?

The situation is becoming worst by the minute....I am safe at home, but I am feeling Ashamed to not be there with some of my friends. Obvious corruption at high level in the police force. Students and Pacifist protesters attacked by the triads. This is a very dark day for Hong Kong. Friends are crying, in total loss of Faith in the governement and the police force over the situation.Nobody CAN sleep right now.
(update: 6:35 AM in Hong Kong, ones of my friends there says it is too quiet at the moment. But if they CAN hold the place up to 10AM, it is one more day to win. The people Will come after a night of rest... )

I have my wife and my kids safely at home. But I feel the need to go in Admirality to show my support for Democracy. i am just a guy, I wish I had superpowers. I can only show myself, to be one more person for whom the idea of freedom of speech is important in our society. I actually do that for my kids future. How can one believe and just sit when there are some clear évidences of fool play. Chinese triads, police force and governement are in the same bag.
I am preparing my backpack to go. Goggles, umbrella and face mask against the tears gaz and pepper spray. And sport shoes to run ;). Water and some little food, and a mat also...
If you guys see some news on TV, the blue ribbons are the ones against Democracy. The yellow ribbons and umbrellas are the students...
Wish me luck
