Why would Doom allow his person to be disrespected? Wouldn't Doom want to instill fear in people he encounters ALL THE TIME?

To put adversaries, and even would-be ALLIES off-guard, and in HIS CONTROL?

It's Fan Service that compromises the character of Doom, for a cheap callback few will remember. or care about.

I hadn't noticed until now that the supposed Doombot in the Arcade
scene has thought balloons. Should that be possible?

.........

Because it is a retcon. Claremont didn't
write the story with a Doombot. So, Doom
thought. And now Doombots can think

Ever since it was shown Doom could impose his thought patterns on another human brain (Kristoff), I've harbored uneasy suspicions that DoomBOT is a misnomer.  It'd not be the first time he oversold (or overestimated) his own inventiveness.

"Not the move I would have made.  Still -- it's a fair question.", doesn't sound like Doom to me.

I believe the Doombots are programmed to think themselves Doom
unless in the presence of the real Doom.

After JB left the X-men , the stories and plots went downhill.

Conrad: If it turns out that it is a conscious retcon, it rather weakens the character.  Anybody know who wrote that?

Didn't Walt Simonson build on this Doombot idea by saying that they
had been acting on Doom's behalf during a years-long "sabbatical"?
