Michael>>As for the distinction, you answered your own question.<<

Forgive me, but how did he do that?  Jason's original post only mentions the similarity.

I can't see how it shows the distinction?  Maybe getting off caffeine was a mistake...:)

Or, you know, a reference that a longtime reader might enjoy, but that a new reader will only get on a basic level.

This is what I'd like to see. Unfortunately, I don't think this is the case!
When I was a kid and couldn't get an obscure (for me) reference... well, I hated it! Show a flashback, insert a footnote... don't let me think this is an exclusive club. This was one of the reasons I didn't read the X-Men during the '90s... too many references to a past I couldn't knew.

Two different sorts of retcon.

I don't see the distinction.  Neither retcon invalidates the events shown in the comic before, it just changes our interpretation of them.  In the original X-Men comic we see Dr. Doom getting a match struck on his armor.  In JB's FF retcon, a Doombot is shown to be the one who actually had the match struck on him.  In the new retcon, Dr. Doom states that he was only pretending it was a Doombot to "maintain confusion" but it was really him after all.

Then I don't understand why would he bother to blow up the Doombot for it's failure in the first one?  If it was really him, all he had to do was not mention it, rather than contrive a scratched Doombot that had a story.

Wouldn't that be a Wandabot instead of a
Doombot?

Depends on who made it.

Ummm... isn't it called a Doombot because
it looks like Dr. Doom, not because he
made it?   We don't call his other robots
Doombots.

That brings up an interesting question... how many different types of robot does Doom have?

Those are the only three I can think of.

I don't know what is worse. Hawkeye having sex with a Scarlet Witch
"Doombot" or the real Scarlet Witch having sex with the real Doom.
Answer: All of the above.

The panels above suggest it was a Doombot that Hawkeye mistook for the Scarlett Witch. I'm seeing something akin to Bugs Bunny with eyelashes and a skirt.
