I saw a lot of neat little effects like that around my area. The storm had started out as rain, so there was water on branches not exposed to the winds. Then it started to freeze, and whatever snow fell on them stuck. I had half a mind to pull over on the shoulder Friday to take a snapshot or three, but I was running my routes for work. Next week, I get to see if the melting causes the local creeks to flood a bit, especially this one creek which always seems to do that because its watershed feeds from a basin north that funnels into it.

My wife just asked me what the weather was going to be like today.  Checking my app, my jaw dropped.  By Saturday SoCal is supposed to be in the 90s.  In March.

As much as y'all are ready for winter to be over, I'm not ready for the summer to begin!

This has now gone beyond a joke into babbling, weeping territory.

We had 30cm fall on Sunday and the biggest fall of the whole winter arrived overnight. The drifts in my backyard are about 8ft deep, it's higher than my knees directly outside my front door. The road looks like dunes of snow.

The wind is blowing so hard, there's no point starting to clear anything.

This is the view directly through my front door:

Huge patches of green have appeared everywhere -- but the weather app on my iPhone has a big honkin' snowflake graphic for tomorrow!

Peter,
My Uncle posted a similar photo of his backyard in Cole Habour!
My folks are in Truro, not sure how bad they got hit yet, but I'm sure when it all finally starts melting, there'll be one of the bigger floodings they've had in years. They ought to start sandbagging now!

It's been just nuts and still snowing.

This is my drive after I dug it out:

I'm thinking of building my own Fortress of Solitude!

Yeah, but you're in Canada. In Canada we'd call that "Tuesday."

I'm back in England for Easter -- hoping for something approximating spring.

Hah, Truro is exactly what I left behind this winter!
As near as I can tell from my friends, it seems they're
just about in the same boat as Peter. And yes, they are
well and truly screwed when it all melts, and if past
years are any indication, it won't be gradual,
especially with the cold hanging on this late. I can
virtually guarantee that the temperature is going just
suddenly shoot up to proper spring levels and be
accompanied by lots and lots of rain. Poor old Park
street won't have a chance.

Here in my area, we're apparently not going to be done yet. The next storm will be a quick one, with most of the snow staying up north -- north of the Interstate, that is. 1 to 3 inches in my area, with up to 6 in southeast Pennsylvania beyond I-95. Combined rain and meltoff will certainly raise the creeks in my area, especially those which empty out of PA.

One creek which runs nearby floods nearly every time it rains more than a half-inch because the watershed is so large for the narrow main channel that empties out into the bay. It has already done that twice last month due to so much snow and a couple of rainy 50+ degree days that followed.
