RIP, indeed. I always respected that he reinvented himself after his art career was over and started teaching. I hear he was a real nice guy, too.

Downheartening to hear that another big comics name has gone. Some of the first Marvel comics I was ever exposed to were B&W UK reprints of the Hulk, featuring his art.

R.I.P.  I really loved his work on The Incredible Hulk.

Really sad to hear this.

Was introduced to his art on the 1977 Marvel comic book adaptation of GODZILLA.

RIP.

I met Mr. Trimpe two days ago at the con. I watched him draw a commission while waiting to get my book signed. This is awful news.
I feel that meeting him last weekend is that much more special now.

The definitive Hulk artist has passed, very sad to hear this, I loved his work as a child. RIP & my condolences to family & friends.

Too bad.

The Hulk has been my favorite comic book character going on 40 years, now. One cannot be a fan that long and not admire Trimpe's run on the series. I recently bought The Essential Godzilla, as I dug his work on that, too.

I got a chance to meet him a couple of years ago, had him sign some of my copies of those classic Hulk issues and a print of the Hulk Rolling Stone cover from 1971.

It was a brief meeting, but he seemed like a genuinely nice guy who still just really loved to draw.

One of my all time favorites. Herb Trimpe was the artist on the first comic that I bought monthly, G.I. Joe. I remember when I realized that Mike Vosburg was staying and Trimpe wasn't comic back to G.I. Joe and how I was actually angry because I liked Trimpe's art better.

I am very, very depressed to hear about this. A truly underrated artist with a distinctive style.

Hulk sad.

RIP.

Truly sad news. Not only one of the all-time great Hulk artists, but he was the ultimate go-to guy for licensed projects. Shogun Warriors, Godzilla, Indiana Jones, G.I. Joe, U.S.1 easily come to mind. A true cornerstone of my childhood. R.I.P.
