This is a really sad day. Requiescat in pace, Mr. Trimpe.

Just found out about this via Fred Hembeck on Facebook. A shame to lose him so suddenly, but it appears he went out shortly after doing wha the enjoyed-he'd just attended a convention on Sunday

I find it depressing that one of the greatest Hulk artists ever is eulogized both in headline and first line as merely the first to draw Wolverine.

>>Legendary Marvel Comics artist Herb Trimpe, the first artist to draw character of Wolverine for publication, has passed away, according to his family.>>

Feh.

Thought he was about fifteen years younger than his actual age.  A real shame that he went before publication of the Twomorrows volume celebrating his work.  I have to admit that I never much liked his version of the Hulk, my taste running much more to Kirby's original look on the character (as opposed to Kirby's middle and later work on him), but I respected that Trimpe was a sincere artist who worked in his own style.  Sorry to lose another craftsman of his caliber.

Saddened by this news. I remember reading the reprints of his Hulk run during the mid-to-late 70's
