It's funny looking at that t-shirt, it had always annoyed me that Thor (and Reed Richards) wasn't part of the charge. Now we do have Thor on it and the use of older art is so egregious that he stands out like a sore thumb.

(Sigh!) Be careful what you wish for eh?

Fun Fact: When Roger Stern created Monica Rambeau he was doing a twist on an old one-liner: "Last night I had a dream in which I saw God. She's Black!"

In all seriousness, I also wonder what Mike Zeck thinks about his art getting chopped up like that too.
---------------------------------------------------------
Would he even know? If the art is so altered that it doesn't even look much like his original cover does that mean they don't have to put his name on it? (If indeed they ever had to in the first place..)
As I'm not really sure whether Marvel has to fulfill any obligations there on what would have been work for hire..

Haha! That's pretty funny. God I love hearing behind the scenes stuff like that..

They were featured in Mike Zeck's original version of the cover.

Thanks for posting that, Ronald! I was looking for it myself this morning so I could post it here but my searches came up empty.

Thanks for posting that, Ronald!

You're quite welcome!

I knew I'd seen a version of the cover with Mr. Fantastic on it somewhere years ago, but I'd completely forgotten Thor was on it, too!

Ha! I was the opposite. I had forgotten Richards and remembered Thor.

Hmm. Between CIVIL WAR and the INFINITY WAR, kind of makes you wonder... if Marvel ever hacked-out a new deal with Fox, similar to the Sony/Spider-Man arrangement, do they have a preliminary back-up plan to make a SECRET WARS movie...?

Marvel? Plan? Sorry, I can't make a sentence with those words.

It's one thing to piece together a group shot using different artists' work (that first SECRET WARS one was changed to just say "Super-Heroes") but it seems sorta slimy to alter the other one (with the black Spidey outfit) and still sell it as some sort of cover reproduction.  Just pick ANOTHER cover!  There are literally thousands to choose from!  Sheesh!
