That SUPERMAN cover has no business in the same thread as that X-MEN cover.••• Which X-MEN cover?

What issues do you have with All-Star Superman's story? I (and most of the people who read it) thought it was a fun modern Superman story with loving nods to the Silver Age and the Christopher Reeve movies. Timid Clark Kent, tough-as-nails Perry White, thrill-seeking Jimmy Olsen, brainy and brassy Lois lane, villainous Lex Luthor, and a Superman who was heroic through and through. Those are all elements of classic Superman.
Is it flat-out dislike for everything Grant Morrison writes, or just not enjoying Frank Quitely's art on Superman? I'm also curious how many people who insist they hate All-Star Superman actually read any of it.

The Quitely cover looks to me like Superman is sitting on a cloud. I would guess the artist intended it to look that way, because he is not an incompetent artist.
He is not just taking a moment to admire his city, he is having that moment disturbed by someone that he is looking over his shoulder to look at.
That makes no sense. Yes, the picture is whimsical, but it still makes no sense. How much that matters is up for debate, but I think trying to justify the sense of the drawing by saying he is floating in a relaxed sitting picture is a losing game (maybe there's a really big mountain peak under that cloud!)

I like All Star Superman but I hate that cover. It is just dull. It doesn't even reflect the contents of the story, which are far more engaging.Quitely had this problem on X-Men, where the covers were equally bland and undynamic, which no narrative hook to grab readers. It feels like the decline of an art form specific to comics.
Dynamic covers are why I started reading comics. I saw just the covers in Superman from the 30s to the 70s and I had to find and read the stories inside.

To whom are you posing your question?
The multiple people who've expressed a strong dislike for All-Star Superman as a whole, or Frank Quitely's art. Just curious if the people who are critical of it have read it or not.

Haven't read any x-men books in years, how did she get Diamond powers? What is this? Do I wanna know? For me she will always be a villian, cause I never read anything with her as a hero. Ok, I know that She's with Cyclops and so on. But when did that happened? Too many questions, should I check wiki...

The diamond powers were added by Morrison. Around that time, Marvel introduced the idea of secondary mutations, powers that would first activate when the mutant's life was in extreme danger: Emma got a more combat oriented diamond form and Beast became a cat.

And the main reason for the diamond powers was Morrison wanted to bring back Colossus bit Joey Q said no. Morrison wanted a powerhouse so he gave Emma the diamond form.
