There is a popular cliché that surgeons are arrogant egotists, and whether or not that is true in general, one can almost see it here. Carson seems to operate on the assumption that he can say ANYTHING, and no one will question it.

"So you're basically saying that Carson gets a pass on all of the recent idiotic things he's said because he's helped some people. That the only way someone can possibly question his opinion is to put up their full resume and IF they've done as much "for your fellow man" as he has do they have a right to call his "observations" into question? In that light, I have a question for you; would you forgive the same of anyone running for the highest office in the land?  Or could it possibly be that people question opinions more harshly because they're running for President of the friggin' United States?

Sorry, but allow people to question rather than to grant someone a pass simply because some of their past actions have, in fact, done some good."

I notice that you ignored the first ten words in my post.  Read them again, read some of the other remarks posted earlier here, and see if you can figure my point out.

For those of you who buy into the nonsense that 2015 America is in any way, shape or form comparable to 1930s Germany, please explain who Obama is supposed to round up and execute, once he confiscates everyone's guns.

(And you can't use "Christians" as an answer.)

I thought Dr. Carson seemed woefully out of his depth during the debates. He continues to prove that to me with each new statement.

A couple of years ago the internet told me Texas. I've always assumed he was going to go door to door.

I don't know where to start. Carson gets credit for not being rude like Trump. But he shows he's not knowledgeable or intelligent when it comes to issues important to being President. He doesn't even believe in evolution--he blames it on Satan!! And his biggest fund raising push came because he said something Islamophobic. The far right loves bigotry!

Love god, love guns, hate that guy over there. That's the philosophy some people hold up as American.

The far/religious right has developed such a keen hatred and contempt for the state, especially where Democrats are concerned. Maybe they should try reading ROMANS 13:1 instead of focusing so much on LEVITICUS.

Your condescending tone aside, I figured your point out the first time. Although you allow people the right to label someone as "ridiculous" you then question anyone doing so who doesn't have the resume that Carson has.  If that's the barometer, then 99% of America should just get out of political discussion altogether.  As it is, I feel totally fine taking Carson and his words at face value and believing them to be ridiculous and him ridiculous for saying them.

Carson said taking away people's guns means taking away their freedoms, and he suggested an armed German citizenry would have avoided the Holocaust."
---
Ben Carson on CNN:
If Germans had guns, Hitler's chances of successful genocide "would have been greatly diminished."

He didn't say they would have avoided the Holocaust he said their chances would have been greatly diminished.

Which if you think about Nazi soldiers raiding houses with armed people in them makes sense.There would still have been a Holocaust but a lot more dead Nazi's.

Setting aside that:

1) The Nazi party actually deregulated gun ownership relative to the
strict bans of the Weimar Republic;

2) The Russian Red Army with tanks, planes, and millions of soldiers
suffered devastating losses to the German army, so the idea that a
couple of hundred thousand Jews with personal arms would be able to
stand up the Nazis is a bit ridiculous;

and

3) During the Warsaw Ghetto Uprisings where the Nazis did encounter
armed Jewish resistance, the Nazis lost 17 soldiers while the Jewish
resistance had 13,000 massacred;

Ben Carson is exactly right.
