Hey Justin, I just got my hands on the 1979 Program Guide with the Alien cover (as well as some other Creation Con artifacts). I'll share when I get scans.

**

It looks like he's using felt tip pens.

I was at this Con with JB and Paul Gibney, way back when. I thought I was going crazy when the New York Statler was mentioned because I remembered walking 12 blocks or so north from the Statler ('cause that's where we stayed) to another hotel. On the second page of the program posted, it mentions the Sheraton Centre. Yes! I'm not crazy.

Howard Chaykin was seated on JB's right on the first day on the Con, after that I'm not sure, I think he was moved to another table.

I also remember seeing the Star Trek slideshow and Caroline Munro.

Oh, to be young again.

Thanks for the Chaykin confirmation! I recall him and JB jokingly chattering back and forth for most of the time I was watching drawings fall out of JB's pencil.
Somewhere I still have my autographed picture from Caroline Munro that weekend! I was 11 years old and googly eyed.
Wish I got more art and comics that day! What an amazing show.

Chaykin was a big hit in Brazil this year. Lots of people flocked to get
their American Flagg! issues autographed. I wasn't there...snif!

Hi Mark -

Thanks for posting the brochure for the show! Very cool. I don't recall ever having one.

I noticed the name "Dorman" for the last page illustration...

I wonder if that is one of Dave Dorman's early works...

Yup - that's Dave Dorman from back when he was a student at the Kubert School. Several of the Creation Con fliers from the era have a early work from artists who went on to do some cool stuff!
