Thanksgiving is my favourite celebration. A time for sharing with family and friends.

So, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Canada hasn't declared independence the way the colonials did in 1776. So there isn't a Canadian equivalent.

Instead of having a war, we just politely waited for indepdendence, eh?
Although the Queen is still technically our head of state, her impact on us is relegated to her face our money.

There is Canada Day, which celebrates the confederation of Canada and is now used to sell lots of red shirts and/or caps for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Do the Jays change their hat to red like the 29 US teams on Memorial Day, July 4 and Veteran's Day?

Yes, but only on the fourth day of each July.

Thanks, Tim.  'Cause to hear some of these guys tell it, the Canadian calendar goes: July 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7...

Canada Day is July 1 and is a national holiday up north. A celebration of the founding of Canada in 1867. Go Canada!

As for Black Friday, I can't ever see myself going out early to compete with another bunch of crazed shoppers for 10 discounted television sets!

If memory serves, they had some kind of camouflage caps for Veteran's day and Memorial Day this year. Can't quite remember for July 4, but I'd guess they'd follow suit.

We've had Black Friday sales over here now for years. Most people wouldn't even know it's to do with Thanksgiving, in fact most people probably don't even know what Thanksgiving is for.
