I really love his work. Nobody could draw that open-mouthed furious look like Sal Buscema.

Another on a long list of artists whose work I never appreciated back in the day because he just wasn't John Byrne! I'm glad I've finally come around!!!
Happy Birthday, Sal Buscema!

Got to add that one of the first times I was aware of different inkers and their styles was following Sal Buscema's run on INCREDIBLE HULK, AVENGERS and DEFENDERS. In some cases, the collaborations were amazing!!

His CAPTAIN AMERICA and DEFENDERS are two of the biggest reasons I love comics! And Charles is right--best punches ever!

I loved his run on The Spectacular Spider-man, first with Gerry Conway, and then JM DeMatteis. His style was different from anything rlse I had seen from him. Just beautiful. The Child Within arc was a masterpiece.

Such an incredible talent.
J.M. DeMatteis' THE CHILD WITHIN (Spectacular Spider-Man #178 - #183) is still my personal favorite Spider-Man tale, and Mr. Buscema's artwork made it even better!

Frenz is a serial swiper with little discernable style of his own. At various times he has produced work derived from Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Walter Simonson and both Buscema brothers. Sal seems to have stopped pencilling and appears to enjoy inking Frenz.

I've gotta say that "Serial Swiper" does not apply to the artwork of Ron Frenz. He adopts the styles of others but he can't be labelled swiper. He echoes the look of others but he doesn't trace, or rely on previous panels.
(It's not like he's a clone of one particular artist either, he even did a great homage to Ross Andru's style in a few issues of Spider-Girl.)
I love his work and Sal's inking is a perfect fit.
