Ditko did that Green Goblin. Dr Strange stumps me though - Colan?

••

That Goblin looks more like Romita Sr to me.

JB is correct. It's from ASM #40. Page 6, first panel.

The obscurity almost makes me interested.  It's weird to see the villains standing with the heroes, too.  A lot of the villains are classic foes but including Modok and Arnim Zola (yeah, yeah, he "appeared in a movie") ahead of the FF and X-Men is striking.  This reads like the rap sheet for properties in development:  Luke Cage and Iron Fist, The Inhumans, Dr. Strange...I'm unaware of Spider Woman, Nova and She Hulk projects, but can they be far behind?

So, if Marvel had not come to the agreement that they
did with Sony, would they have dared have gone so far as
to leave out Spider-Man?

-----

No, because even before that, Marvel retained all merchandising rights
and TV rights to Spider-Man.

---------------------------------
Disney only retains all merchandising rights after coming to an agreement with Sony (as per a regulatory filing they made in November 2011 in which the company said it 'purchased Sony Pictures participation in Spider-Man merchandising'), so the question is still valid of whether Spider-Man would also have been excluded had Disney not been able to make that agreement back in 2011.

I suspect not, as Disney has seemingly been on friendly terms with Sony from the get-go with regards to Spider-Man.

Slightly off-topic,but i have never understood the popularity of `weathering` why would you pay for something new that looks second hand?

I have to say, I think the image they use has become an iconic shot of the character for many of us fans.

Notice that with the Inhumans movie in development they are represented quite well.

Even though the movie Inhumans probably won't look a thing like these...

I guess the Ghost Rider on the shirt means that they got the movie rights to Ghost Rider back? But having Ghost Rider on the shirt instead of the FF or most popular X-Men just to spite the companies that own the movie rights is ridiculous.

I also hate how Marvel is trying to make the Inhumans the new X-Men. When Uncanny X-Men got popular it was because of the writing and art and because it was just damn good comics period. It wasn't some company plot to make them popular. The readers grew to love the then new X-Men, not because Marvel was shoving down people's throats, but because it was good. I don't see how the Inhumans sustains three titles currently when the original series was cancelled pretty quickly back in the 70's and it's never been able to sustain an ongoing series since until Marvel's recent push (although with the constant renumbering who knows if it even counts as an ongoing series or just a series of mini-series).

As a lover of Marvel villains and obscure characters I love this shirt.

As for the weathering, well I like to look scruffy! :)

I just have to ask, which are the obscure characters?

To any but the most devoted readers, MOST of those characters would qualify as "obscure." Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and Spider-Man have considerable "marquee value" at present, but a civilian would have a hard time naming ANY of the others.

(Maybe Ghost Rider, tho I wonder how many would know which was him, and which was Dormammu?)

Yep, a couple of years ago with Blade and the Punisher.

Based on the setup in Agents of SHIELD, that's a given.
