It's nice to see another commission after being in a drought for the entire month, and glad to see it's an epic one! •• Confession: This piece took three passes. I did the pencil layouts, didn't like 'em, and erased them. Then I did a second batch of pencils, got about half done with the inking, didn't like it, tore it up. Third time's the charm. as they say. Crazy thing is, there was very little different between the first two and the finished product. They just didn't "feel" right. (Note to Byrne Bashers: your response to this is that I should have torn up this one, too!)

Such a fine job there! I just LOVE seeing that Batman again... that's MY Batman.... not the grungy battle armor Batman, or the thick neck short eared steroided up Batman, mine is the classic Neal Adams Batman. Great to see him again! •• "My" Batman, in the sense of my fan days, was the Dick Sprang Batman I read in my pre-teens. When I returned to reading comics in my twenties, I was, of course blown away by Neal's (and subsequently Jim's) version. Thing was, tho, different as they looked, I had no trouble accepting that the Batman of the Seventies was the same guy whose adventures I'd read in the Fifties. Which is not something I can do with the psycho ninja Batman who has been the character for a few decades now.

JB when you mention tearing up the previous work, I laugh and remember the big smile you had when the Green Goblin met it's fate on a past vid clip! Sheez, I also remember that tearing sound.
This is the Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman that I identify with the most. Just love this stuff.

What a great commission. How i wish JB would do one more stint at either of the Big 2, on anything.

My favorite part is Superman's expression. Instead of a generic battle scowl, you've got the exact face you would make if something unpleasant, but ultimately harmless, was hitting you in that particular spot on your forehead. Very expressive work with just a few lines.
