(The thread devoted to this Omnibus is now locked. Mods, feel free to merge this thread with the existing one.)

The Alpha Flight by John Byrne Omnibus, announced many months ago, is out this week! As it often does with new releases, www.instocktrades.com is offering it this week as one of the deals of the week at 50% off the $100 cover price, or $50! Next week, it will probably be "only" 42% off, which is still good. In case anyone would like to get this volume but was intimidated by the $100 cover price, this is a more affordable way to go. 45 comics are reprinted in the volume so it's only slightly over a dollar an issue! There is free shipping also with $50 orders. Amazon has it for $83.12 at the moment. I have no affiliation with the website; I just wanted fellow Byrne fans to be aware of the sale. Despite the name, not every Alpha Flight story contained therein is by John Byrne but the majority of them are.

Apparently Marvel's pricing system for these Omnibus volumes is pretty arbitrary. Also out this week is the War of Kings Aftermath: Realm of Kings Omnibus by Marvel. It is 1248 pages, exactly the same as the Alpha Flight Omnibus, yet it has a $125 cover price compared to the $100 cover price for the Alpha Flight Omnibus. Go figure.

I didn't realize it was out today! Thanks for the heads-up, Brandon! I moved your post to the original thread.

Thanks, Tim! Amazon is listing a release date of February 14 but www.instocktrades.com had a release date of February 1 and began offering it for sale yesterday. I'm not sure whether comic retailers have it in their stores this week or not.

It's listed on the "New Release" thread, so it should be in stores.

I missed it on the New Release list as I don't even look at Marvel anymore!

I was just going to start a thread about where the best place to buy TPBs is, just so I can order this. Thank you very much!

*******

I've been using that website for about a year and a half to order trades and hardcovers and it's hard to beat. It's a sister site to the Discount Comic Book Service (DCBS), which is one of the miscellaneous links listed on the Byrnerobotics link page. Whereas the DCBS specializes in ordering comics and trades in advance, www.instocktrades.com doesn't do preorders but sells trades and hardcovers that are already out. You can order from them the week of release, though! Pretty much any Marvel, DC, Image, and Dark Horse item is available at 42% discount at any time. I think IDW items are 30% off. There are frequent sales where items from a particular publisher are 45% off for that week. Plus several new items each week get spotlighted as deals of the week at 50% off, like the Alpha Flight Omnibus is this week. Also, if you've placed an order within the last 8 days, you get an extra 2% discount. I think shipping is a flat $4 for orders under $50 and free for orders $50 and above. The expensive artist edition hardcovers are about the only items that usually aren't discounted.
