I don't know what the National news has said about the flooding in South Louisiana but the Greater Baton Rouge area looks like one big landfill. 61,000 homes took on water including mine which got 4.5 feet.
Its strange thing putting everything you have to the road for trash pickup. The,worst was my comic book collection consisting of about 10,000 single issues and a few hundred trades. In fact, Fox News stopped right in front of my house to show the devastation. I'm told that if you watched Sean Hannity's report on the flood, my house was shown.
So, has anyone else ever had to rebuild a comic collection from the beginning? Because after the house becomes in order, I'm going to rebuild it, issue by issue.

The only advantage to this is I get to avoid buying back a lot of the cap I didn't want to keep.
But, the whole event took a relationship that I had with my girlfriend, which has been strained, and brought us closer together than we ever have been. That's worth all the comicbooks in the world to me. I love that woman with all my heart and soul.

First and foremost Stephen I'm sorry you have to go thru that headache. I hope you are able to rebuild everything with little trouble. Now onto the subject of this thread. It sucks to have to lose all your stuff. I've lost or have sold or have given away all of my collection. Which at one point was close to 15,000 pieces. I've regretted the ones lost or sold everyday since it occurred.A few years a go I've decided to begin rebuilding. I made the choice to be much more selective with what I buy back and what new pieces I try to acquire. Much of the stuff I got during the 90's I have no intention of replacing. I've found I have no desire to relive that crap.I probably have about 100 pieces if that after several years of collecting again. I'm trying to be much more selective. So that I'm collecting what I actually enjoy and not just collecting because of compulsive habits. I am finding much more enjoyment in the hobby now than I've had in quite a long time.
I've also allowed myself to getting into collection like the Marvel Essentials. It saves me money on the titles I liked but didn't LOVE. It also has made it easier to complete some storylines I couldn't finish before because I couldn't find missing issues.

Stephen, my wife and I are sorry to learn about the damage done to your home and other possessions.
As far as rebuilding my collection goes… After my freshmen year of undergrad, my dad's ex threw away all of the books and comic books I had left at their house. I have had to content myself with replacing many of the books via ESSENTIALS, SHOWCASE and other collections.

Y'know, I'd be more than willing help you restart your collection by sending you some issues/runs from my very own collection - for free - as a token of how sorry I am for your losses. That's really horrible.
