Mr. Byrne - I think you're right about locking this down. The damage is done, the fuse to the dynamite is lit, and nothing we can say or do can change it now.
One last comment on my part (honest.) Several people have commented that we now have to come together and support this president. But from everything he said, and everything he promised, I'd not waste the saliva to spit on him if he were on fire. I cannot support a man who, at the very least, is a bigger liar than "Lying Hillary" ever was - and THAT'S if he repudiates every single thing he said during the campaign. If he carries on with his misogyny, racism, bigotry, stupidity about world affairs - well, I'll quote from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" - "You stood up to be counted with the enemies of everything the Grail stands for! Who gives a *damn* what you believe?"

My last comment: Thanks to voter apathy, only about 25% of the electorate picked the president. As usual.

I'm not pleased with the election results at all, but I can't help but see the "#notmypresident" posts on social media and think about the people that were vilified in 2008 for saying that they were hoping that Obama failed, with responses that he was OUR president.

Before this is locked down, just one additional thought on the idea that Sanders would have won. People who play "if only ..." change one variable and think everything else would have been the same. Trump took out a dozen and a half Republican competitors and a Democrat with massive advantages on every level. To think he wouldn't have used different tactics against Sanders is just naive. Maybe Sanders could have won, maybe not; given a slight shift in the electorate winds, Clinton would have won too.

Yeah, my goal for the next four years is to not be a hypocrite when it comes to bemoaning the actions of the political parties. The Dems have spent the last 8 years being (mostly) the adults in the room. I really hope the recent effectiveness of the "Party of NO" approach doesn't lead to them adopting the same practices now that they're the minority. (Well, they've BEEN the minority - "fully off to the side for a few years", maybe?)
But I also hope the politicians meet us half way. If President Trump matches Campaign Trump, defending him as "our President" ain't gonna be easy.
(And to respond to JB's question, I too vote to lock the thread, but maybe allow a little time for a few more "final thoughts" to sneak in.)

I'd vote for giving it another 24 hours and then locking it down.
I think we need to mull over the fact that Trump is gonna have the codes for the nukes.
I hope he rises to the challenge and becomes a better man in the process. I hope he is held accountable by the people if and when he errs.
