Current Wolverine is dead (replaced by future old man version)
***********
So he's somehow resurrected in the future?
(I know, I know, timelines, etc., but still.)

Beast's fur was first grey, then to save money, black. But that meant traditional blue hi-lites, and it took about eight seconds for fans and writers to start saying he was blue. But underneath he's still Caucasian.

What's disturbing to me is the raft of criticism that's been levelled against what to me looks like at least an attempt at a 'back-to-basics' reboot. Specifically, people are mad, particularly at the book with the five original X-Men, because all the characters are white. Publishing a comic featuring the original characters is apparently now politically incorrect.
------
I love the original X-Men and would prefer a book that focuses on them, but you have to admit that with a series that has always served as a metaphor for bigotry and discrimination, having only one non-white character between two books is a step backward and a bit tone deaf. The kneejerk reaction to "SJWs" is as equally ridiculous to the Twitter/Tumblr outrage being criticized.

The book with the original X-Men does have two minorities on it. One woman and one gay man, since Bobby came out in the original All-New X-men seris)

Iceman is another victim of forced diversity at Marvel. He's getting his first ongoing and its going to 'focus on his sexuality'. Here was his editor's comment about the change to Bobby:
"I wasn’t involved entirely in the story at that point, but Brian Michael Bendis was very wise to identify that all those threads that existed," said Ketchum. "We’re not in the business of pulling something out of nowhere and slapping it on to a character so he fits some quota, or for the sake of telling some story. This had to come from somewhere, and it did. And now wonderful talents like [series writer] Sina Grace get to take that storyline and move it forward.”
.....uhhhh......

Yes. Bendis pulled it right out of his ass.
That's somewhere, right?

Iceman being retconned into being gay is a classic example of fans and fans turned pro seeing threads and hints that were never there in order to justify changing a character to what they want said character to be.

Bobby was clumsy and unlucky around women, so OF COURSE he's Gay. Wait, didn't I just describe the standard cliche comic fan?

"But underneath he's still Caucasian." ****
So, if we were to shave him, we'd see white skin? I wonder what a shaven Beast looks like. Has that ever been depicted?

The diversity I would like to see is the occasional inclusion of an X-Man who isn't a time-displaced alternate reality version of the actual character.
Seriously, of the 11 characters included in these books, you've got 5 time-displaced characters from an alternate past, two from alternate futures, and two whom I know to have been dead in the recent past. How exactly do you do a book about persecution and prejudice when you stock your cast entirely with characters who literally don't belong here?
