I wonder if a "mustache" version of the JSA/Invaders would be possible...

"A good man, accidentally deranged by a volatile drug, arrives from the future and sets in motion a series of tragic events that will draw the attention of heroes from across the world... From its most populous cities to its arctic wastelands... From the heights of its mountaintops to the depths of its oceans... Together, they must fight to contain the growing storm that has arisen in Europe... At a time when no one else will...!"

"Which, if any, strikes Forum members as "my" Batman?"

...

My vote goes to Batman 3D!
Wish I could see it in non-3D. The glasses kind of give me a headache after a while.

Fascinating that JB inks the whole thing over the pencils before erasing. A great many artists lay down the lines, then erase, then fill the blacks, to avoid the eraser lifting ink from the solid areas (or, worse yet, smudging because a large area isn't 100% dry!).

Has this never been a problem, JB, or have you found a way around it?

I'd say both what Bill mentioned above (the "variation of the Adams/Aparo...") and the Dick Sprang-esque Batman found in Generations, Batman Captain America, and other commissions.

One of the reasons that I've reread the Generations stories so much is because it has a mix of JB's Batmans (Batmen?) all in one.

planned JSA/INVADERS miniseries

Boy, that would have been awesome.  That said, I'm glad we got Generations.

I'll add my voice to the growing chorus of those choosing the full black cape
and cowl version shown in a number of your commissions.

Yep - BATMAN 3D is your Batman, IMO.

It takes the Adams/Aparo Batman as the basis, but then the all-black cape and cowl with creased cape makes it unique. I don't recall any other artist doing all three.

And I LOVE that commission above. Though I have to admit that even though you didn't really care for the yellow oval version, I preferred it since I liked the rounded bat-symbol inside over the angular one.

So Generations came out of a JSA-Invaders crossover that DC did not want?  That is interesting.  Can Imagine how wonderful that would have been.  Our loss.

JB out of all of your many, many runs on titles / stories Generations is up there at the top, for me, especially the first two.  There was just something magical about seeing the characters age, and go through life's up and downs, that fed some kind of need.  The death of Supergirl, Lois getting cancer, just so much in that series, was so impactful.

Thank you so much, JB, for an awesome commission.   Each of these characters has a special meaning to me in my own comic book reading history and I love what you've done with them.   I know this might not be a standard issue of Detective comics, but my mind boggles at the type of mystery that both Darkseid and the Joker are presenting to not only the Justice League but one that nessecitates the Black Panther as well. Totally would rather read this than whats in current comics. A series done by you set in the late 70s/early 80s combining certian DC and Marvel characters of that era would be crazy cool.

As to what I think is your Batman, I'd say that both the Batman from Man of Steel #3 and the one in both Legends and Batman 3D are it.   Both of those depictions along with your Batman from the Untold Legend of Batman are my first exposures to your Batman, and they left a hell of a mark on me.

Thanks. The principle failure of G3 sprang from DC wanting it to move into the future, instead of slipping in between existing chapters, as in the established model. It quickly became "unknown territory," which I don't think was as much tun.

Re:that splash page from MAN OF STEEL #3, I know this
comic predates BATMAN:THE ANIMATED SERIES but I "hear"
Batman's dialogue in this panel in Kevin Conroy's voice.
