Meltzer hasn't written anything for DC for several years now. I hope this is permanent.
Sadly, James Robinson is still writing at DC. He's currently writing Wonder Woman, which worries me. I hope he doesn't stay there long.

Bendis is a master of padding, and that's about it. He can take something that could easily be done in 3 to 4 issues or less, and drag it out to 6 or more.

And then get credit and praise for breaking (or almost breaking) a record for writing a book for so damn long. Of course when you look at his "long runs", he essentially 20 to 30 consecutive issues, but padded them out to 120 to 150+ issues.

I havne't read anything by James Robinson or current DC in quite awhile but I used to like James Robinson a lot. I thought Golden age was very strong.

Most of Robinson's recent work has been at Marvel. He wrote the latest Squadron Supreme series with a line up of multiverse survivors where they kill Namor and a tie in with Secret Empire staring the GA Torch and Toro. His arc in WW hasn't started yet.

Robinson's one of those talented guys I wish wasn't being wasted on present-day Marvel or DC with their bad continuity or interfering crossovers.

I meant to say Robinson's WW issues will be coming out soon.
He's developed an awful violence fetish. His Earth 2 series was pure "disaster porn."

I really enjoyed Starman, JSA and Golden Age from Robinson but I must say I didn't like his most recent work.
Earth 2 was bad and I quit reading it very quickly... I just don't know if he found that curious plot himself.

Only wrestling fans will get this (and care) but it's a bit like how you can't compare modern championship reigns with reigns from the past. Apples and oranges. Decades ago, a guy holding a belt, such as the WWF Championship, three or four times meant something; in the modern age, with a higher turnover of reigns/back-and-forth reigns, a guy holding a particular title 8 or 9 times really doesn't impress me.

People are still hung up on that Ultimate Spider-Man origin story arc almost 20 years later? The "write for the trade" era has been over for a while now, and with the increasing importance of digital sales, there's been a big shift away from decompression and forcing every story arc into a six-issue format. This is like complaining about network sitcoms today if you haven't watched anything since the last episode of Friends.

But let's pretend that Friends was still airing today, just like Marvel is still publishing Spider-Man comics. But this week's episode of Friends completely sucks.
And sucks in a way that insults the memory of how good it used to be.
I believe the complaint here is that Superhero comicbook storytelling took a turn away from what is 'Good' (60s, 70s 80s) toward decompression and has never found it's way back to 'Good'.

Perhaps with some (I buy some standalone issues, i.e. SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP), but although I may be a little behind, when I check Marvel's listings, it does seem very arc-driven.
