At least World War II didn't become Korea, then Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Afghanistan again, Syria, etc. etc. etc.
It's those damned NAZIS that are the problem! But they do make such good opponents...
Oh, and Mr. Shepherd... I don't think your differing point of view is the issue.

Here is some food for thought. If aging and changing classic popular (or formally popular) well known iconic characters is such a great thing for those characters then explain why characters like Dick Tracy,Mandrake, the Phantom (who is only popular in the Netherlands and Australia), John Carter,Flash Gordon,Price Valiant, and Tarzan are no longer popular outside of their dwindling fan base? If Aging and changing the Marvel and DC characters such a great thing, then explain why the current Batman and Superman comics are only selling well to the existing aging and shrinking comic book readership, but hasn't been successful at attracting brand new readers (especially young kids)? If all of those vocal readers who are calling for the MU and DCU characters to age, change, get married, have kids, and be replaced by younger legacy characters, then why haven't those same readers come out in force and bought ongoing series like Spider-Man:Renew Your Vows and the NC2 line of books? And yes, I know that those books are set in an alternate timeline/possible future and "don't count" in the eyes of the anal retentive fanbase, but they still should support those books if they truly want to see their favorite characters age and have kids.

Because nobody gears said books to all ages readers and then distributes to them.

I'll never win a debate on JBs own forum of course, but yeah it was only a different opinion. I went back to re-read my comments. All are appropriate for my POV. None were combative. So yeah I can see where an IGNORE was justified. Whatever....each to their own. Oh wait....

I think there was a point way way back, a crucial moment of decision to rival a What If comic scenario that comes to bear here and in many other discussions about the audience for comic books... What If comics had stayed 68 pages? I know that what happened in WWII was that there was paper rationing and the 36 page comic for ten cents was born out of necessity then... but later on, when all comics dropped from 68 or 52 pages down to 36 pages rather than raise the price. Had they raised the price and not dropped the page count would America have a business that now resembled the Japanese one more with titles that still sell in the million range all the time? Would the old type distributors have had more respect for something with a higher value rather than the general bales where (at least in America) they didn't know from which titles there were?
Dell tried to have 15 centers with more than 36 pages as regular titles (like Pogo), and also went against using any of the 'comic codes'. Around 1978 DC tried 50 cent 44 pagers while Marvel trumpeted their 36 pagers as "Still only 35 cents!" If things had been different and the page count had stayed up and the value to retailers was thus higher, would the direct specialist non-returnable system have had as much influence or even been created? Would aspects of it simply have been part of how the mainstream distribution was handled as it was for many larger-sized and higher priced magazines?
Maybe The Watcher knows. We never will because it would've had to have happened back in the late 40s/early 50s and ripple up to the present.

The MC2 books were all ages books. Also, IIRC, the Spider-Girl digests sold pretty well to kids. I will grant you that Marvel could have made a greater effort to distribute the MC2 line of books to all ages. However, that still doesn't explain why all of those vocal readers who are calling for the MU and DCU characters to age, change, get married, have kids, and be replaced by younger legacy characters, haven't come out in force and bought ongoing series like Spider-Man:Renew Your Vows and the NC2 line of books or why many of those vocal adult fans are still dropping those MU and DCU books that cater to their selfish needs.

3 years? 1 year in comic book years? •••
Please don't do that!!

I didn't start it.

Does that mean you have to continue it?
I'm not taking sides. In my opinion, JB has shown himself to be quite thick-skinned. But if on his own forum he makes a request of a poster and that's ignored, it's not a shock that he'd then ignore the poster.
