We've always called it the Maritimes for New Brunswick/Newfoundland/PEI/Nova Scotia, and just Eastern Canada for everything Ontario on east. But... I've noticed 'rebranding' going on around here on the island on the other side... they've started calling it 'The Rock' and it makes me mad because that should only be for the island (non-Labrador) part of Newfoundland, or the original 'rock, Gibraltar! How dare we muscle in on their thing. Also a part north and a little west of Victoria which we've always called Colwood/Metchosin/Langford they are now calling 'The West Shore', and I guess I'll have to get used to that but nobody called the area this until fairly recently. At least they had the smarts not to call it 'The North Shore' which they could have, because everyone thinks Hawaii when they hear that. Sometimes North Vancouver is called that but not in capitals.

I've often heard the U.S. east coast called the Eastern Seaboard. May there never be another Big Apple, Big Easy or Windy City!
