An opinion so devoid of fact and logic that makes idiotic conclusions isn'’t one side of a discussion. Turning away from ignorance, even wilful ignorance, isn'’t reaching for a pitchfork. People ignoring you're idiotic statements isn'’t suppression. I suppose when your an idiot life is full of misinterpretation.

....and Joe Zhang is back with his bullshit!!!!

Stop with your hidden racism of including Floyd's medical history. He did not deserve to have a cop kneel on his neck for over 8 minutes.

No one does.

Floyd died because he couldn't breathe. Coroner's report backs up the live video. Any other theory is as likely as him being killed by Jewish Space Lazers!

It's as if Joe is commenting on a man with a stab wound that bled to death,  but since the man is a hemophiliac and took two aspirin a short time before the stabbing we must conclude he died because his blood doesn't clot. As if the stabbing had nothing to do with the death and the victim should put fault only on himself. Idiotic.

In my opinion, George Floyd knew he was going to die for at least five minutes. He begged for his mother. He stared death in the face and could do nothing except beg for his life. The man applying pressure on his neck through Floyd's resistance, anger, cries of mercy and eventual begging for life is a criminal.

"Is there such a thing as murderous neglect?"

I think what you're trying to get to is Depraved Indifference, which is similar to negligence, but requires proving a depraved state of mind, or wanton indifference.

From USLegal.com: "To constitute depraved indifference, the defendant's conduct must be 'so wanton, so deficient in a moral sense of concern, so lacking in regard for the life or lives of others, and so blameworthy as to warrant the same criminal liability as that which the law imposes upon a person who intentionally causes a crime."

and

"...to bring defendant’s conduct within the murder statute, the People were required to establish also that defendant’s act was imminently dangerous and presented a very high risk of death to others and that it was committed under circumstances which evidenced a wanton indifference to human life or a depravity of mind...The crime differs from intentional murder in that it results not from a specific, conscious intent to cause death, but from an indifference to or disregard of the risks attending defendant’s conduct."

The actions of the officers definitely fit the elements of Depraved Indifference, but IMO not because they failed to perform CPR. Its still the kneeling on his neck that's problematic.

In opening statements, Chauvin's attorney said the officers were doing what they were trained to do, so clearly the defense intends to argue there was no murderous intent.

Depraved Indifference is a good rebuttal to that argument, because even the untrained civilians on the scene were able to recognize the effect that kneeling on Floyd's neck was having on him.  The body cam footage of civilians pleading with the officers and pointing out that Floyd was struggling to breathe, and begging them to check his pulse when Floyd began to be unresponsive is devastating to the defense case.

What reasonable explanation could there be for staying on his neck 3 minutes after he lost consciousness?

Tunnel vision?
Poor training?
Fear of the growing group around you?

not an excuse; merely offering a possible explanation,

We'll probably hear some of those; especially training.  Its been a long time since I saw the video, but if I remember correctly, there was a point at which one or more of the other officers asked Chauvin whether they should get off of Floyd, and Chauvin said no.

That exchange indicates some type of training issue may be part of this.

They might not even need to move the trial to Florida for the 'armed with a sidewalk' defense if they are allowed to assassinate Floyd on health as well as character. >:^(

I think all that should be introduced is the nature of the call about him the police were responding to. Anything else should be inadmissible even if if Chauvin had previous interactions. That is relative to Chauvin perhaps, but not to Floyd outside simply establishing he did nothing to provoke this deliberate murder.

That's because you are thinking in terms of what is fair to Mr. Floyd, and how to get justice for him.  I get that.  Right now its easy for us to condemn Chauvin because of what is on that video tape.

But despite how overwhelmingly convincing the tape is, you have to remember that Chauvin is still presumed to be innocent, and the criminal justice system is set up to protect his rights as the defendant.

These protections are necessary to help prevent innocent people from being convicted, because the founding fathers accepted the axiom that if the judicial system errs, it would be better for a guilty man to go free, than for an innocent man to be imprisoned.

It seems unfair to Mr. Floyd, but that is largely because we have such overwhelming evidence in this case that to almost all of us there seems to be no question Chauvin is guilty.  But in most cases we don't have the luxury of a video tape like this.

Oh, I've no doubt this will be another Treyvon Martin, where they have an all or mostly white jury that buys whatever bs the defense swings their way, including Floyd's drug use, as any excuse to acquit the bastard. Just like what happened with George Zimmerman, who was guilty as sin.

Crap like this is not going to stop happening as long as the police are allowed to police themselves.

Nah.  This case is completely different from that one.  They might not get him on second degree murder, but they will on third degree murder or manslaughter.  Chauvin's going down.

I blame the prosecution for overcharging. A second degree murder charge requires the jury to decide the defendant has a depraved mind. It's really hard for the prosecution to prove to the jury what Zimmerman was thinking. It's one thing to think that Zimmerman was guilty of killing Trayvon and another to say that the prosecution proved that Zimmerman killed him with a depraved mind.

On the other hand, if they built the case around Zimmerman being a stupid asshole who was responsible for Trayvon's death because he profiled him and idiotically confronted him with a gun, I think the jury would have been more likely to find him guilty of manslaughter.

With Chauvin, it's much easier to argue that kneeling on someone's neck for nine and half minutes is proof that he was acting with intent without regard for human dignity and life.
