There have been a whole slough of comics and series, and obviously DC and Marvel are desperate to get sales up.
So if you were to help... what would you like to see back? We can discuss new books some other time. Right back from 1938... who deserves a review? Or their own book?
I'd like to limit your choices to three. Any character, any era, and you can define if they're hip deep in crossovers and continuity, or if they are, for the most part, standalone.
My three are:
The Marvel Family - In continuity with Earth-S. I miss Billy, Freddy, and Mary a whole lot (and even Hill, Tall, and Fat a little bit.) Whomever it is at DC, they've decided that the way to try to make the Marvels popular is to complicate them and drag them into the current era. I've no use for that. I'd LOVE a good old fashioned Marvel Family vs Sivana family knock down drag out again!
Brave and the Bold - I love team ups. B&B, Showcase, DC Comics Presents, Super-Team Family... you name it, I enjoy it! Mark Waid tried it a few years ago, and I thought he handled it well. Then Straczynski picked it up, and while I still liked the concept - and even one or two of the stories - his writing style didn't appeal to me. And then, the newest Brave and the Bold #28 had The Flash and Blackhawk. They should have put that in #29... NO sense of legacy, and that put me off.
Mostly, I'd like to see a new Challengers of the Unknown. This is a series that could be the eyes and ears of the new DC Universe (whichever goddam version we're on.) I just want to see the four death cheaters in fun adventure stories. Maybe with a guest star or two (I think that the Human Target and Nemesis would both fit into the Challs adventures), maybe a crossover or two (the Challs and the Doom Patrol seemed on the cusp of an annual team up) - but something to honor Jack Kirby and all the others ono that book. I'd especially love to see Mr. Byrne do a six issue span on CotU if he were not the impetus of the book.
What would you like to see back? From any company?
