I too do not bag and board my comics. I don't
know if it makes me a superfan, but for comics
I truly loved as a kid, I remember where I
purchased them and the events surrounding me
reading them.

With you there, Paul. Distribution was pretty bad where I lived, making something of an adventure out of searching for new issues. I can still recall quite clearly where I saw various comics on sale—even a few I didn’t buy.

The thing that got me is we had three drug/corner shops not more than three blocks away that had comics spinner racks, and I still often missed issues I wanted! I remember desperately trying to find X-Men #134 after missing #132 and being so happy to find it at a shop on the way to my grandparents I'd rarely been in before. That's a vivid memory; I could barely wait to get to the grandparents to read it (I'd get car sick if I tried to read anything in a moving vehicle)!

Eventually I'll get comics into some bag or other, usually two per bag, but some have spent years 'in the raw' waiting for me to get around to them.

I've never bought bags or boards, I do have a bunch of comics that came that way second hand.
I still remember the first time I seen comics in bags, it was a comic convention I think in '77. I bought a Daredevil #6 in beautiful condition for $7, soon after, the tape from the bag got caught on the cover and tore a small piece off of it. I was mortified and been paranoid of the tape on bags since.
BTW there were no boards then, that I saw, when did those become prevalent?

The first comic store I ever went to used to SEAL the bagged comics, you couldn't open them or look at them before you purchased. I thought that was the way everyone did it until a second store finally came to town and I was baffled as to why they only taped the bags shut.
