Lois's hair was historically black since Action #1 and through the Silver Age.
Making it brown post-MOS was the change, not the other way around.

Another cool issue by Simone and Byrne!!! i dig the inks of
both Nelson and Stucker tho' i do agree Nelson needs to
calm down a bit in certain places. (No big deal.)
Why the comments about Lois' hair color? Girl has a right to
change her hair color from time to time... no?

One of the most important things I've learned during my career as an
editor is this: address the little details NOW, while they're still fresh in
your mind, before you inevitably end up forgetting about them until it's
too late.
Me, I would've made sure the line was deleted as soon as JB asked for it--
and I would've then followed up on it in the later stages of production to
make sure that the line was indeed deleted. All told, it would take about
five seconds of my time.

Which thread is that, Brian? I'd like to check it out.

I realize that pre-Crisis Lois had black hair. I was just curious if she actually dyed her hair black in an issue or decided to give her back the pre-Crisis look out of the blue.

They had Lois dye her hair black in a story. Then when Mark Waid revamped Superman's origin, Lois was restored to having always had black hair. So it's both actually.

Even as a kid, I always understood instinctively that the blue highlights on Superman's hair meant that his hair was black, as it did with Lois and Blackhawk and everyone else who had black hair. I grew tired of people asking why people couldn't tell Clark Kent was Superman "since they both have blue hair", so when I was handed the task of revamping the character, I asked if it would be possible to come up with some color other than blue to use on the highlights. Something more like a color found in nature. The "solution" was a kind of warm grey, which resulted in people -- including Garry Trudeau in a "Doonesbury" strip -- refering to Superman having gray hair "now that he's fifty". sighAnyway -- as a part of all this I asked if it was possible for Lois to have brown hair, instead of blue/black. "Reed Richards brown" was the description I used. The editor said "Sure!" -- but at the time Jennette Kahn was dying her hair this kind of electric Titian color, so that was what they gave to Lois. Eventually. I never was able to get it the simple brown that I wanted.

GREAT issue. My favorite yet of the run!
I literally gasped at Superman's situation (Trying to avoid
spoilers here.) on page 16. CLASSIC!!!!!
Of course, I'm starting to notice a strange trend. In 3 out of 4
issues, Superman has fought foes who's primary combat
technique seems to end up causing flying shards of metal. Kind
of quirky.
I also have a question, though I appologize if it's been brought
up before in the forums... Why are there other artists on the
covers of that title? I've always personally prefered the cover
and interiors to feature work by the same artist, and it seems
almost arbitrary to have someone else do what you already do
so well.

I guess I'll try out for a No-Prize on the Doom Patrol reference.
JB has already established his version of the DP as having worked behind the
scenes for some time and they've already beat some strange villains.
Shrapnel was one of them, though he escaped being imprisoned in Key
Mordaz. Superman became aware of their rogues gallery some time after
the Tenth Circle.
Yes, I know neither JB nor Gail intended such a thing. But that's my story
and I'm sticking to it.

works better than my "Superman was just trying to confuse him" theory.
