Oof. Twitter may still rely on ad revenue in the future, but it's clearly going to be of the 'buy Gold!' variety that turns up on most conservative broadcast platforms.

Who's surprised? This was his plan all along.
I'm only curious about how fast a Twitter alternative is launched. Elon Musk is the biggest troll and many are losing patience for his nonsense.

It does seem to be that there is a collective move to a particular platform. I’m not sure how these things actually happen.
When Covid hit, I had been using WebEx for conference calls, yet it was Zoom, something I had not heard of prior to then, that took advantage. Everyone started to talk about it & Zoom became the one that got the verb.
I wonder why that was.

WebEx positioned itself for businesses and didn’t have a user-friendly free setup. Skype hadn’t innovated in a decade. Zoom had the latest features and was easy to sign up for.
Some people are advocating for Mastodon as a replacement for Twitter, but I think a lot of the users will struggle with the decentralized, multiple instances. I’ve jumped on the waitlist for Post.news, even though I’ve never liked Twitter. Only reason I was on it was to get notifications for drops of limited items.

Master don is the one the collective in the UK seem to be talking about, but yes, the decentralised nature seems to be its biggest negative

******* What I should have asked is... which platform will dethrone Twitter like FB dethroned MySpace years ago.

Oral arguments did not go well for Trump on Tuesday. The challenge to equitable jurisdiction seems to be going in favour of DoJ. During the proceeding the court asked the DoJ lawyer if the the order overturning Judge Cannon’s decision should be written to vacate the injunction or if it should reverse and remand with instructions. Still looking good for the Special Master process to be gone before the new year.

One of the worst things about the past six years is the realization that the absolute worst and most obnoxious people I know are but a game show hosting gig away from the presidency.

The Appeals court has ruled for the DoJ. Aileen Cannon was wrong to assert equitable jurisdiction and the appointment of a Special Master has been reversed.
