Um, are we ever going to get the answer about what's 'in common'
between Master Khan and Dark Pheonix, or did the 'JB drew 'em

There is a strong parallel between the journeys of Khan's foil Iron Fist and Phoenix.
Both Iron Fist and Jean Grey died.
This was later retconned to they were thought dead, but what had actually died was an imitation version that had secretly supplanted them while their real bodies were in stasis.
Years pass and then Namor discovers their bodies and frees them, restoring the hero to recommence their adventures.
