Seems as though, in many series, there's a turning point that defines "before" and "after." Several of these come from the deaths of important characters.In ALPHA FLIGHT, it's Mac. In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, it was Gwen Stacy. In FANTASTIC FOUR, it's (arguably) the baby Sue lost. And in X-MEN, it's almost surely the death of Jean Grey.
Any others stand out? Are there other moments that represent a major turning point that aren't a death (figurative or literal)? |

Thinking it over, the loss of the baby in FF was tragic, but maybe didn't define the stretch afterward in the way those other examples did. So... has the FF had an inflection point like the others?

Yeah, I'd agree with the birth of Franklin.I'd say also for X-Men a big turning point was when Claremont introduced the idea of Magneto as a holocaust survivor. That was a BIG change, that led to major repercussions. |

I'd say the Coming of Galactus is absolutely an inflection point. There was already plenty of cosmic-ness in the books (The Watchers, Skrulls, Thor, etc.), but I think the floodgates were opened wide after his introduction. Maybe not so much in terms of the FF as an individual comic series but for the MU as a whole.

This is a great question.
"Flash of Two Worlds." The Bullseye/Elektra arc in Miller's DAREDEVIL. The Kree-Skrull War in AVENGERS, maybe?
And then, of course, the Big Two started manufacturing inflection points in the mid-to-late eighties: Crisis, Secret Wars, Zero Hour, Millennium, and so on, right to the present day, but I would rather not count any of those.

Good call with this -- Stick was introduced as part of this arc and between Stick, Elektra and Miller's Ninja war, it was like adding a whole new wing to an existing building.

DC wise, the Earth Mars War leading to the Detroit team in
Justice League of America.
The Judas Contract in New Teen Titans was a major one with
a lot of repercussions.
Swamp Thing finding out he wasn't human was a big game
changer.
