I suspect many in the offices felt a need to do something that would get them noticed - good or bad.  Just like 99% of other offices in the 'real world'.  Hey, why do we never see Cap's eyebrows?  Those should be visible - someone tell the artist to put them in.  Along with 1001 other 'kewl' ideals.  The 90's were full of them.  I can just see someone who was a kid in one of the offices going nuts because their idea made it into a movie as a throwaway line then demanding compensation for it.

Sigh.  Part of why I am enjoying this far more than anything on the stands today.  Any ideas come from a creator who has fun doing it and not from someone trying to prove they belong.

If anything, I’m sure there are plenty of people who would tell us ELSEWHEN proves I DON’T “belong” in today’s marketplace!

Did not see that coming!•• A relief! During the whole sparkles/squirrel/fox/bear sequence I was worried I was being WAY too obvious.

LOL! So true! In their world, it's always blackest before finding that color beyond black... And I'll second that I had no idea what it would turn out to be. Given all that they have faced in the past, I thought it could have been a few different things--but that wasn't one of them!

Still not 100% sure myself but if right, I DID see it coming which is the first time in Elsewhen!

Once the bear made it to Jean, and the officer said the name Phoenix, I suspected this might be the case!

I had assumed that sparkles was to be the remnants of the Phoenix working its way back to Jean, but then someone mentioned Proteus & JB mentioned a twist being spoiled in the comments and I was disappointed that the reveal was ruined for me. Which, weirdly enough, made this reveal surprising for me all over again. Basically, I never have any solid idea where any of this is going, and I love it!
