 | •• Hm. A miscalculation? Three Xmases, so two years since Jean became Phoenix, in context, but this would be only about half of that. Oops!!

I love seeing these scenes with captions - gives things a historical distance. Really neat effect!

 | As some of you have doubtless guessed, in ELSEWHEN I am playing around with a combination of real and Marvel time. The stories are passing in something approximating Marvel time, but the Past, for the characters, is closer to real time. So the origin of Phoenix happened about two years ago, for the X-Men. The "lobotomy" about a year. Kitty has been with the group a bit less than a year. Go with the flow!!

 | I’m way off time wise in general. I was thinking we were a couple of
months max from 137, so the two years made me think we were going
to experience a time jump from the end of 11 to the start of 12.

 I’m caught up now thanks

Kitty is the best guide to the elapsed time. Originally she arrived as Jean's "funeral" was happening. Now, we can assume she arrived as the X-Men were returning from Jean's parents' house, where the Shi-ar had deposited them.

 | Then the timeline becomes elastic. Those darn Xmases! On the one hand I could ignore them as "topical references", but on the other they kinda work for pacing out what I'm doing in ELSEWHEN--especially allowing that some of the stories seen in the "real" timeline did happen. Just not quite as we saw. (One reason I snuck in a reference to the encounter with the new Brotherhood in Washington somewhat earlier than it "really" happened was to underline the fact that things are happening differently. Mostly, that "Days of Future Past" didn't happen. No Sentinel conquest of the world to worry about. No nasty Future. Yay!)

An interesting page -I wonder if it was harder trying to match things up to this previously seen sequence (from several pages). I would expect it might have been better as you could correct some things along the way.

I felt that it came across as more emotional this second time through. The emotions of the X-Men came across better (particularly Storm, Beast, Colossus, and of course Jean (who seemed unconscious at the start of the procedure last time).

Maybe the X-Men did an extra Russian Orthodox Christmas in January to make Peter more comfortable in the early days. Plenty of Christmases to go around! 😉

I totally promise I will go with the flow, but does this mean "Kitty's Demon" and the Christmas it occurred during already happened off screen?  Just using the attack by the Brotherhood in Washington as a reference (October), only about 6 months could have passed since issue 137, unless we've "skipped" Kitty's demon fight at Christmas.
On another note, No one draws an "angry Scott" better than you!  For a character with "no" eyes showing to develop expression, you always manage to show all of Scott's emotions through just that little patch of mouth.  Amazing |
