Roger Stern once theorized that one of the reasons for the popularity of the X-Men was that they were much like so many comic fans: "outsiders" who only hung out with people like themselves.

The texture throughout the splash page is incredible.

 | Welcome back to Elsewhen! She's dead. =/ Has it really be 38 days already? Glad to see issue #17 started and a confirmation of what happened to Amanda. (my first wife's name) I wonder how Kurt will take the news and as always it is a treat to see a JB upside down Spider-Man.

Your Spider-Man and Nightcrawler are the best! One of the few artists where I slow down to enjoy the art. It's a nice benefit of this format - you can't rush through to the next page.

Happy to be up and running with Elsewhen again. Not happy about Amanda though!

I like how you have Spider-Man's hand clinging to the window behind the vertical blinds and the subtle curve as they are displaced by his hand. Nice little detail that one. |

 | Sorry about Amanda.
I compiled a list of who might be talking to Kurt but held back until we knew. My list was:
future Wolverine (where he's become a Zen Buddhist) Odin Ghost Rider Ka-Zar (or Zabu) the ghost of Agatha Harkness Franklin Richards (still a juvenile only child) Uatu Ultron the Red Skull
Well, it was NONE of these and for all the joking in the list above, I look forward to seeing what comes next. |

I love JB's Spidey and Kurt. This is a hell of a splash. It feels like a very naturalistic blown-out apartment, no fake rubble patterns or cheats here. True disarray.

I'm going to go ahead and say that JB's current Spider-Man is up there with the ones drawn by Steve Ditko and John Romita, Sr.
