This "run" on Elsewhen has outlasted most modern day series, let alone a run by one creative team. |

50 teleports?!? Wow. I really like the “smoldering” effect blowing off him

A respectful FYI, sir... Jason and I each purposely withheld the name of the character we think appears in the final panel of today's page so as not to ruin the surprise in case we turn out to be right. (Plus, it's just not nice to offer any speculation that's too specific.)

New drinking game, I'm going to take a drink everytime Mr Byrne sighs this issue. I've notified my next of kin incase my alcohol level exceeds survivable levels! ;-)

P.S. naked, clothed, teleporting across time and space, this is still the best thing out there in the comic world. Thanks Mr Byrne.

I'm trying to make sure I understand what determines whether the offspring of a mutant (or two mutants) is considered a mutant or not. If all of the following statements are true, I've got it! If not... *sigh*

 1) If Scott and Jean had a son who possessed no superhuman abilities or features, he would not be a mutant.

 2) If Scott and Jean had a son who possessed his father's ability to shoot optic blasts, he would not be a mutant.

 3) If their son had the same telekinetic and telepathic abilities as his mother, he would not be a mutant.

 4) If the boy possessed his father's optic blast and his mother's mental abilities, he would still not be a mutant.

 5) If Scott and Jean had a son who gained super powers from cosmic rays, a radioactive spider bite or by wielding an enchanted hammer, he would not be a mutant.

 6) If Scott and Jean's son had all of his parents' powers and possessed super strength, he would be a mutant.

 7) If Scott and Jean's son had none of his parents' powers, but possessed super strength, he would be a mutant.

I understand the exercise Wallace but the fact that the whole process is this murky is depressing.

 | It gets a little tricky when power sets are unclear, though.
Is Rachel Summers a mutant? Does she just have her mother's powers? Or is the ability to send Kate Pryde back into the body of Kitty Pryde a separate power? If so, then she's a mutant for having that extra power. If not, she's not a mutant (unless she has some other extra power I don't know about).

It kind of reminds me of the old joke about the Legion of Super Heroes. You were only allowed to join the Legion of Super Heroes if you had a power no one else in the LSH had (so Mon-El gets in because he's invulnerable to Kryptonite and Ultra Boy gets in because he can see through lead... never mind that either one could punch a planet in half). The old joke that used to go around was that Supergirl got in the Legion because she had the power to bear live Kryptonian young. (since every actual superpower she had was a copy of one of Superboy's powers).
